SYKES to expand Greenwood operations
August 6, 2009
Sykes Enterprises, Incorporated (”SYKES” or the “Company”) (NASDAQ: SYKE), a global leader in providing outsourced customer contact management solutions and services in the business process outsourcing (BPO) arena, announced today it is investing in expansion plans for its Greenwood call center operations. The expansion plans call for approximately 250 additional seats.
“We continue to see a demand for outsourcing, and the expansion of our Greenwood operations is a result of SYKES adapting to meet this demand,” said Andrea Burnett, SYKES Director of Corporate Communications. “Our partnership with the community of Greenwood has been very successful and we believe, as we work together on this expansion, we will bring the potential for more jobs to the people of Greenwood and the surrounding area.”
Since opening its doors in the Fall of 2008, SYKES has brought more than 400 jobs to the Greenwood area. This translates to approximately $4.4 million in payroll, and does not include the economic impact the Company has brought to the local community and its businesses through operating expenses such as taxes, construction costs of facility maintenance and expansion, office supplies, etc.
“The relationship between SYKES and the Greenwood Mall has been very successful and demonstrates the creative solutions that can be developed when all parties work together,” said Mark Warner, Interim Executive Director at Greenwood Partnership Alliance. “We appreciate the hard work from everyone who helped make this expansion a reality, including Greenwood County Council, the Upper Savannah Council of Governments, Piedmont Technical College and Hull Storey Gibson Companies.”
