 Greenwood County Library
A capital campaign is underway for a new library, to be located in Uptown Greenwood, which will be the first “green” library in S.C. - energy efficient and environmentally friendly.

Greenwood’s public library is well-known for its progressive programs and planning. With two branches in the community to complement the main library, facilities encourage school involvement and access to the most up-to-date information and technology available system-wide.

A capital campaign is underway for a new main library, to be located in Uptown Greenwood, which will be the first “green” library in South Carolina — energy efficient and environmentally friendly. Expanded capacity to support the needs of our growing population, subsidized by our popular Bookmobile service, promises greater community involvement and the ability to meet the needs of readers, print or technology based, well into the future.

Lander University Jackson Library

The Jackson Library serves as an information resource for the Greenwood region as well as for the Lander community. The library offers access to print and electronic resources, including full-text periodical databases, such as InfoTrac, Lexis-Nexis and the Professional Development Collection. Our Web-based online catalog provides access to the library’s collection of more than 300,000 items in book and other formats, and over 700 periodical titles. The collection includes a variety of government documents, as the library serves as a partial federal documents depository, and a full state documents depository.

The general public is encouraged to utilize the library’s resources. No borrower’s card is required for the use of resources in the building. Individuals not associated with Lander can pay a $25 fee for a visitor’s borrower’s card, which allows a limit of two books to be checked out at any time. Lander alumni and teachers in the GLEAMNS area (Greenwood, Lander, Edgefield, Abbeville, McCormick, Newberry, and Saluda counties) may receive a complimentary borrower’s card.
